Pavithra lives in Chelekere Village on the outskirts of the city of Bangalore, a major commercial centre with a population of more than 10 million people in Karnataka State in the south of India.  Very large numbers of people in these areas live below the poverty line. Pavithra lives with her father, mother., brother and sister Her father works in a brass making factory and his mother is a caretaker.

Pavithra was born on 30 April 2007. She is a student in 5th standard (grade) at the Sinclairs School operated by the Bangalore City Mission.   One of her favourite subjects at school is Maths. 

Pavithra's interests include sports and dance. When she grows up she wants to become an Engineer.
